Solunar feeding forecasts, major and minor fish activity windows, real-time USGS water temperature, and NOAA atmospheric pressure trends for Bankhead Lake (Alabama). Verified depth tactics, biological thermal baselines, and conservation guidelines for freshwater anglers.
Tropical Storm Watch issued October 9 at 6:57AM CDT by NWS Birmingham AL
Depth Guide: Surface water temperature directly regulates fish metabolic activity and foraging depth positioning.
Feeding Index: Steady barometric pressure sustains predictable feeding habits across primary ambush points and drop-offs.
Chop & Presentation: Light surface ripple breaks sunlight glare and disguises terminal tackle, prompting cautious game fish to strike moving lures.
Lunar Timing: Prime major window active around 11:01 AM CDT – 1:01 PM CDT. Astronomical alignment drives peak foraging intensity on Bankhead Lake.
Current index calculated from verified local atmospheric, hydrographic & alert inputs.
Excellent for fishing (94/100), from 5 available inputs. Supporting this: Wind 5 mph from the east. Dawn hours (07:00 local). Not available from a verified source for this lake: pressure trend, water temperature. Confidence is moderate (74%) because some inputs are unavailable or older than ideal.
Major feeding periods coincide with lunar transit (moon overhead and underfoot); minor periods occur during moonrise and moonset.
Moon Overhead (Transit)
Moon Underfoot (Antitransit)
| Feeding Window | Period Type | Astronomical Trigger | Feeding Intensity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11:01 AM CDT – 1:01 PM CDT | Major Window | Moon Overhead (Transit) | High |
| 11:25 PM CDT – 1:25 AM CDT | Major Window | Moon Underfoot (Antitransit) | High |
| 5:32 PM CDT – 6:32 PM CDT | Minor Window | Moonset | Moderate |
| 6:25 AM CDT – 7:25 AM CDT | Minor Window | Moonrise | Moderate |
Solunar Science: Major periods produce peak gravitational tidal pull on aquatic organisms. Times and moon phase are computed locally from Bankhead Lake's coordinates and current astronomical orbit.

Public boat ramps, shore fishing access, and county park landings for Bankhead Lake are managed under state and regional public land guidelines.
Anglers launching trailered motorized watercraft or paddlecraft should verify seasonal water clearance and county park parking requirements prior to launching.
