Solunar feeding forecasts, major and minor fish activity windows, real-time USGS water temperature, and NOAA atmospheric pressure trends for Island Park Reservoir (Idaho). Verified depth tactics, biological thermal baselines, and conservation guidelines for freshwater anglers.
Flood Watch issued October 10 at 12:53AM MDT until October 12 at 6:00PM MDT by NWS Pocatello ID
Depth Guide: Surface water temperature directly regulates fish metabolic activity and foraging depth positioning.
Feeding Index: Steady barometric pressure sustains predictable feeding habits across primary ambush points and drop-offs.
Chop & Presentation: Light surface ripple breaks sunlight glare and disguises terminal tackle, prompting cautious game fish to strike moving lures.
Lunar Timing: Prime major window active around 12:28 PM MDT – 2:28 PM MDT. Astronomical alignment drives peak foraging intensity on Island Park Reservoir.
Current index calculated from verified local atmospheric, hydrographic & alert inputs.
Poor for fishing (43/100), from 5 available inputs. Supporting this: Wind 13 mph from the south-southwest. Sky is cloudy (74% cloud cover). The forecast mentions thunderstorms, which carries a risk penalty. Not available from a verified source for this lake: pressure trend, water temperature. Confidence is moderate (74%) because some inputs are unavailable or older than ideal.
Major feeding periods coincide with lunar transit (moon overhead and underfoot); minor periods occur during moonrise and moonset.
Moon Overhead (Transit)
Moon Underfoot (Antitransit)
| Feeding Window | Period Type | Astronomical Trigger | Feeding Intensity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12:28 PM MDT – 2:28 PM MDT | Major Window | Moon Overhead (Transit) | High |
| 12:52 AM MDT – 2:52 AM MDT | Major Window | Moon Underfoot (Antitransit) | High |
| 7:16 AM MDT – 8:16 AM MDT | Minor Window | Moonrise | Moderate |
| 6:31 PM MDT – 7:31 PM MDT | Minor Window | Moonset | Moderate |
Solunar Science: Major periods produce peak gravitational tidal pull on aquatic organisms. Times and moon phase are computed locally from Island Park Reservoir's coordinates and current astronomical orbit.
