Solunar feeding forecasts, major and minor fish activity windows, real-time USGS water temperature, and NOAA atmospheric pressure trends for Lake Rabun (Georgia). Verified depth tactics, biological thermal baselines, and conservation guidelines for freshwater anglers.
Flood Watch issued October 10 at 10:47PM EDT until October 11 at 2:00PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Depth Guide: Prime metabolic feeding range; game fish actively hunt both shallow flats and mid-depth ambush contours.
Feeding Index: Steady barometric pressure sustains predictable feeding habits across primary ambush points and drop-offs.
Chop & Presentation: Light surface ripple breaks sunlight glare and disguises terminal tackle, prompting cautious game fish to strike moving lures.
Lunar Timing: Prime major window active around 1:20 PM EDT – 3:20 PM EDT. Astronomical alignment drives peak foraging intensity on Lake Rabun.
Current index calculated from verified local atmospheric, hydrographic & alert inputs.
Excellent for fishing (94/100), from 6 available inputs. Supporting this: Measured water temperature 64°F from a representative gauge 3.4 mi away. Provisional data. Wind 5 mph from the south-southwest. Not available from a verified source for this lake: pressure trend. Confidence is moderate (82%) because some inputs are unavailable or older than ideal.
Major feeding periods coincide with lunar transit (moon overhead and underfoot); minor periods occur during moonrise and moonset.
Moon Overhead (Transit)
Moon Underfoot (Antitransit)
| Feeding Window | Period Type | Astronomical Trigger | Feeding Intensity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1:20 PM EDT – 3:20 PM EDT | Major Window | Moon Overhead (Transit) | High |
| 1:44 AM EDT – 3:44 AM EDT | Major Window | Moon Underfoot (Antitransit) | High |
| 8:12 AM EDT – 9:12 AM EDT | Minor Window | Moonrise | Moderate |
| 7:22 PM EDT – 8:22 PM EDT | Minor Window | Moonset | Moderate |
Solunar Science: Major periods produce peak gravitational tidal pull on aquatic organisms. Times and moon phase are computed locally from Lake Rabun's coordinates and current astronomical orbit.

Public boat ramps, shore fishing access, and county park landings for Lake Rabun are managed under state and regional public land guidelines.
Anglers launching trailered motorized watercraft or paddlecraft should verify seasonal water clearance and county park parking requirements prior to launching.
