Squantz Pond Boating Conditions, Boat Ramps & Marine Forecast

On Squantz Pond, wind speeds under 10 mph generally produce glassy to light ripple conditions optimal for all recreational craft, including pontoons and bowriders. Winds between 10 and 15 mph generate moderate freshwater chop (1–2 ft waves), while sustained winds exceeding 15 mph or gusts above 20 mph produce steep wind chop and whitecaps requiring vigilance, particularly for vessels under 20 feet. Current observations report wind at 4 mph with gusts to 7 mph.

Squantz Pond features 1 cataloged public boat launch ramps and marina facilities, including Squantz Pond State Park Boat Launch. Launches generally provide concrete ramps, vehicle and trailer parking, and courtesy docks.

Under Connecticut boating statutes and U.S. Coast Guard navigation rules, power-driven vessels must observe a 5 mph flat-wake speed limit within 100 to 200 feet of shorelines, designated swim zones, marinas, and moored craft. Children under 13 must wear an approved USCG Type I, II, or III life jacket while underway on recreational vessels.
