Solunar feeding forecasts, major and minor fish activity windows, real-time USGS water temperature, and NOAA atmospheric pressure trends for Willow Springs Lake (Arizona). Verified depth tactics, biological thermal baselines, and conservation guidelines for freshwater anglers.
Flood Watch issued October 10 at 11:08AM MST until October 12 at 5:00AM MST by NWS Flagstaff AZ
Depth Guide: Surface water temperature directly regulates fish metabolic activity and foraging depth positioning.
Feeding Index: Low atmospheric pressure indicates incoming frontal activity. Fish often feed aggressively immediately ahead of approaching troughs.
Chop & Presentation: Brisk winds (19 mph, gusts 32 mph) stack forage onto windward shorelines; boat anglers should seek lee bays.
Lunar Timing: Prime major window active around 12:13 PM MST – 2:13 PM MST. Astronomical alignment drives peak foraging intensity on Willow Springs Lake.
Current index calculated from verified local atmospheric, hydrographic & alert inputs.
Poor for fishing (47/100), from 6 available inputs. Supporting this: Measured water temperature 59°F from a representative gauge 10.4 mi away. Provisional data. Wind 10 mph from the south. Working against it: 86% chance of precipitation is likely. The forecast mentions thunderstorms, which carries a risk penalty. Not available from a verified source for this lake: pressure trend. Confidence is moderate (72%) because some inputs are unavailable or older than ideal.
Major feeding periods coincide with lunar transit (moon overhead and underfoot); minor periods occur during moonrise and moonset.
Moon Overhead (Transit)
Moon Underfoot (Antitransit)
| Feeding Window | Period Type | Astronomical Trigger | Feeding Intensity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12:13 PM MST – 2:13 PM MST | Major Window | Moon Overhead (Transit) | High |
| 12:37 AM MST – 2:37 AM MST | Major Window | Moon Underfoot (Antitransit) | High |
| 7:06 AM MST – 8:06 AM MST | Minor Window | Moonrise | Moderate |
| 6:15 PM MST – 7:15 PM MST | Minor Window | Moonset | Moderate |
Solunar Science: Major periods produce peak gravitational tidal pull on aquatic organisms. Times and moon phase are computed locally from Willow Springs Lake's coordinates and current astronomical orbit.

Public boat ramps, shore fishing access, and county park landings for Willow Springs Lake are managed under state and regional public land guidelines.
Anglers launching trailered motorized watercraft or paddlecraft should verify seasonal water clearance and county park parking requirements prior to launching.
